Oh, now I've got that song in my head (Though, 10 points if you get the reference).
So um... yes, I'm trying to type something coherent while watching a death metal band play 'achy breaky heart' on spicks an specs and at the same time seeing that about a fifth of my laptops power is left. My power chord charger thing FINALLY broke. I'm in mourning and now have to sneak downstairs and steal my brothers. does my life seem insane to anyone else, not to mention extremely dull.
So I want to talk about perceptions today. John Green would be proud. The reoccurring theme of the last two days is the realisation that everyone doesn't know the same things I do. Now, I know what you're thinking, um... Katherine, sorry to break this to you but um... five year olds have the capability to realise this and you are how old? to which I would answer, 20 in nine days.
So yes, the first occurred when (btw, I just plugged my laptop in, so I'm not mildly anxious about losing everything I've typed so far, my life feels a little less exciting now, sad) well, when I went to the movies to see 'Mao's Last Dancer', for a movie that focused on this reality it was actually pretty good. Well anyway as we were buying our tickets Rowena saw a poster for 'New Moon' and freaked, which considering Kristian Stewart in general is not surprising, I think that if she would wear longer skirts when she's in public we wouldn't have half the problems we do but Rowena disagrees, we then went on to discuss what we would be wearing to see the movie, my disgust at the fact that I own 2 twilight shirts (I only bought one of them), one thing lead to another and we had the ticket selling chick proclaim that she was 'like' the biggest twilight fan. To which Rowena set up the challenge of 'do you read twilight fanfic' though she probably said fan fiction just to clarify. And the chick had no idea what poor little Row was talking about. *face palm* It constantly surprises me that people have no idea what things I take for granted and dismiss are. And it makes me wonder what they (I include myself in this)are missing out on.
A wonderful example of this is an article I read in the local paper in the lead up to GenCon. I can't remember everything but it spent the whole time defining things like 'Cosplay' and 'Zelda'. The general public are strange me thinks.
So maybe my point isn't about perceptions, it's more about, um... i don't know what I said before, my amazement at what can be normal to and how it varies from person to person. I love the world I live in, I just have a hard time believing people think Twilight is this radical thing.
Wow, for something I think is only average, I'm getting too obsessed with Twilight. Though, I could talk about it all day, and believe me I will.
Ok, have to go, gotta go watch tv (John Safran's Race Relations, gotta see what all the fuss is about) and learn some more about soil.
remind me to talk about the Ugly series.
until next time,
Katherine
